Sunday School News

Well, we are off to a great start to our Sunday School and Wednesday Christian Education! It is great to see so many familiar faces and some new ones too!

We have a great line up of teachers again this year.  Most classes have more than one teacher which allows the teachers to rotate Sundays that they teach.

New this year are Bible Bucks. The children earn bible bucks every Sunday just by attending. Teachers may also hand out the bible bucks if a student shows they deserve an extra pat on the back. Children may also earn a bible buck if they are not there for a Sunday but can show they were at church somewhere else that Sunday (i.e. church bulletin, Sunday School project/paper). When they’ve earned 5 bible bucks, they can turn in their bible bucks for a prize in the prize box!

Also new this year is a noisy offering! The children can put their Sunday School offering in a noisy container during church services.  It’s so much fun to finally be allowed to make noise in church!

In September, the 2nd graders received bibles.  As they are sharpening their reading skills, what better book to have in their hands.  Also, the 3 year old children received bible story books to commemorate the beginning of their formal Christian education.

In October, we had a guest speaker from Lutheran Partners in Global Ministries (LPGM) visit. We sponsor a child, Papitha, from India through LPGM. With our sponsorship (only $240 per year), she is able to attend school, get the school supplies, clothes and food she needs. She lives away from her family, which is hard, but it is a rare chance for a girl to get an education in India. Last time representatives from LPGM came to speak to the Sunday School only. This time they prepared for an adult forum, but our Sunday School kids also sat in for part of their presentation. We then worked in large groups to create letters and cards for Papitha.

Coming up . . .

Ÿ There will not be any Wednesday activities on November 24th or Sunday School on November 28th as this is Thanksgiving weekend.

Thanks to all for bringing your children to Sunday School and Wednesday night education. We pray for all the children in their pursuit of understanding and living God’s word. We pray for all the teachers in their pursuit of understanding, living and teaching God’s word.
